There’s actually a lot that you can do to develop your study skills and control your learning rate. Factors such as how, when and where you study, reading comprehension, note taking and much more play an important  part in how effective your studying time is.

Each one of us is different when it comes to how we like to study but nevertheless the principles of effective studying remain the same, some of them are:

1.      Set an objective for each study session, but keep it attainable. It’s far more rewarding to cross items off a list than to add them on. Setting your goals smaller means you have a higher chance of making them.

2.      After one hour of study take a 10 min break. After studying for 3 hrs at a stretch give your self a half an hour break. During the break time just relax and rejuvenate yourself.

3.      When you return from the break recapture what you have studied. This will help in registering the information you have studied more deeply in your brain
4.      When you’re in your studying place, don’t allow yourself to indulge in other things such as phone calls, instant messaging, games etc. Your study place is for studying only.
5.      Keep a calendar on the wall with exam dates marked off. This makes for easy reference and acts as a motivational tool to help keep your concentration.
